Zoom
Despite extensive touring with Ten Years After and the Alvin Lee Band, Lee still found time to put out his next solo album “Zoom”. Including musical contributions from George Harrison and Jon Lord, it is a blend of blues and melodic rock with intricate guitar solos and powerful vocals. Containing tracks like “Blues Has Got a Hold On Me” and “Lost in Love” Lee’s knowledge of the Blues really comes to the fore while “Wake Up Moma” and “The Bluest Blues” feature Lee’s signature fast-paced guitar playing and captivating riffs.

Nineteen Ninety-Four
(US title I Hear You Rockin')
Album | Alvin Lee
The second half of the ‘94 saw a new backing band and a new album. The new band backing Alvin for a US tour and some European shows was Nine Below Zero featuring Gerry McAvoy (bass), Brendan O’Neill (drums) & Alan Glen (harmonica). The new album was “Nineteen Ninety-Four” or “I Hear You Rockin” if you were in the US. Bluesy and back-to-the-roots it continued his collaboration with long-time friend George Harrison and even featured a great take on the Beatles’ “I Want You”

The concert was recorded and several of the songs were later released as a live album named “Live in Vienna”.
